Tattoo Removal, the before, during and after!

August 14, 2025
Before any laser tattoo removal treatment, you must ensure no sun exposure or tan to the area.

Whether you’re considering saying goodbye to old ink for aesthetic, personal, or professional reasons, understanding what to expect at each stage is essential. Before your first session, it’s important to prepare your skin by keeping it hydrated and moisturised, and ensuring the area is clean. Consult with your removal specialist about your medical history and any medications, as these can affect the process.

During the sessions, you may feel a sensation like the snap of an elastic band against the skin—uncomfortable but generally tolerable for most people. The treated area may turn white temporarily and swell, sometimes accompanied by minor blistering or scabbing as your body begins to break down the ink particles.

After each session, focus on gentle aftercare: keep the area clean and covered, if necessary, avoid picking at any scabs, and use soothing ointments recommended by your clinic. Swelling or redness is normal and should subside within a few days.

To speed up removal at home, drink plenty of water, massage the area daily, use saunas or steam rooms, and exercise regularly. Avoid smoking, alcohol, and sun exposure as they can slow recovery or cause pigmentation changes. Wait at least 8 weeks between treatments—the longer, the better.

Enjoy your tattoo-free skin!
